Meredith A. C. Challender

Partner

Meredith began her legal career as an associate at Kissel Straton & Wilmer in 2006 after graduating magna cum laude from Pace University School of law. Since 2014, Meredith has been a Partner and General Counsel of the Firm.

At KSW, Meredith represents the interests of insurers and reinsurers in London, Bermuda and the United States as monitoring and coverage counsel. Her practice focuses on emerging technologies, professional liability (with specific emphasis on legal and accounting malpractice), financial institutions, D&O/ management liability, cyber and technology liability, miscellaneous E&O, securities broker-dealers, commercial general liability, and employment practices liability. Meredith’s insurance practice spans the life of complex claim development, from initial notification and coverage assessment, through evaluation of liability, exposure and strategy issues, to resolution of high exposure matters through informal negotiations, ADR or litigation. Meredith also assists in the drafting of policy wordings and endorsements.

In 2018, Meredith dove head first into the vast and rapidly evolving area of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency, kicking off an obsession over the world of digital assets. In 2019, Meredith obtained a certificate from Cornell University in Blockchain for Business. Since that time, Meredith has handled claims involving the most prominent and consequential companies in the digital asset space, as well as drafted some of the first bespoke policy wordings and endorsements for the digital asset industry. As part of her digital asset insurance practice, Meredith closely tracks developments in digital asset litigation and regulation in the U.S. and abroad.

As a Co-Lead of the KSW’s pioneering Emerging Technologies practices group, Meredith has also developed a special interest in artificial intelligence as it impacts the professional liability sphere. Along with the Emerging Technologies Practice Group, Meredith regularly attends conferences, publishes articles, participates in panel discussions, webinars and podcasts, and gives presentations regarding the state of Emerging Tech and its likely impacts on the insurance industry at large.
